It’s another week, and that means it is time for an update. I have been working on my Prince Billy book (still don’t have a title in mind for it yet). Things are going smoothly and I have limited time to write, but I got a few things down to start the process. Today I wanted to discuss world-building for my book “The SwordMaster Brothers.” This book is in my box set “Beyond the Realms” with four other stories by authors around the world. I thought sharing a little of the backstory would get you more interested in this standalone book I wrote for these two characters in my world of Tarzinëa.
Now, in the time of the SwordMasters, it was far in the beginning of the world. They were a powerful organization that worked to keep the less fortunate safe. The task for new SwordMasters was to go through a rigorous training. They would have magic and sword training along with other weapons. The purpose of this is to keep them fluid in all different aspects of war.
Training would happen over a five-year span. The men would do both studies for weapons training and then magical training for magic. They weren’t considered mages when they were becoming SwordMasters. Some might quit and join the mage school instead if they have no talent with the blade and weaponry. But that is only if they can’t master both fields of study.
Rikkin and Roülle are in their final year of training. When they get to their final year they must face the Grand Master’s Challenge. This is when their mentor takes them into the mountains where the Grand Master’s shrine is hidden. They are then forced to face their fears in life and conquer the test to become SwordMasters. Each must do three trials and pass them fully to move on to the achievement at the end. These tests many have faced and some come out defeated, while others didn’t come out at all.
Rikkin is determined to achieve the right of SwordMaster but his brother is not so sure about his own journey. The questions in this story are their tests and how will they succeed?
